Some of the sections below cover some of the frequently asked questions (FAQs) and options
available for your business or upcoming event.
Why is a banner a good choice?
Banners are a great temporary or periodic-use solution such as an event or exhibitions. Printed banners can be rolled up and conveniently fit inside cars (when a large van isn’t available).
Putting a new banner up can draw new customer attention to a sales event or new promotion that you might be hosting.
What we like most about banners is that they can be taken down, rolled up and stored for later use. Often, we find that potential local customers that regularly pass an area become desensitized to some forms of advertising or messages that you might be trying to promote – so taking signage down occasionally and then putting it up again a couple of weeks later can draw more attention.
What is the lifespan of a printed banner?
As with most products nowadays – there are various material grades available on the market. A good general use banner would be around 440gsm PVC and should last a year or more (depending on use, outdoor conditions or UV exposure).
What are banners made of?
Most banners are made from PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride). PVC is the world’s third-most widely produced synthetic polymer of plastic (after polyethylene and polypropylene). [Source 1]
Printed banners can also have eyelets made from various metals with a brass or nickel-plated finish which need to be removed separated before the recycling process can start.
At Greenside – we are also trying to do our part in reducing plastic waste, so we also offer PVC-Free printed banners and PVC free eyelets – making your banner a more environmentally friendly product.
What size should your printed banner be?
If you are unsure where to start with sizing – banners are usually landscape orientated and 3m x 1m (WxH) is a good starting scale for a banner. Although banners can be made to nearly any size – we find this is a great start. If you need a banner around 1.5m wide, we can scale the height down to 750mm (0.75m) high.
If you have a space in mind that you need to fill, (i.e. wall, fence or banner frame) – let us know and we can work out sizing for you.
Banners can be made to nearly any height or width but bear in mind that the banner can become very heavy and may require welds or joins if larger than standard roll sizes.
What banner material should I use?
Some considerations include size, location or if the banners are double sided.
What size printed banners do you need?
The size of the banner may affect the type (or grade) of material required. As an example, if a banner is required for scaffolding, we may recommend using a mesh banner material – which allows wind to pass through the material.
You want your message to be easily visible and this may also affect the size.
Where are the printed banners going?
If it being installed of fences, railings or the high street – you may need different grades or even double-sided options.
What is it being fixed to?
Is the banner being fixed to a wall, or an existing banner frame? Installing banners to railings may have less restrictions than fitting to scaffolding.
How long will it be up for?
This is important to know the grade of the material you may require.
